Urban Sketchers Exhibit

Urban Sketchers of Central Connecticut Exhibit
On view through July 12, 2025
Hosted at the Naugatuck History Museum at the Tuttle House

We were proud to present an exhibit featuring the work of the Urban Sketchers of Central Connecticut. As part of the worldwide Urban Sketchers movement, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to raising the artistic, storytelling, and educational value of location drawing. It promotes the practice of sketching on location and connects people around the world who draw where they live and travel.

This creative and welcoming group of over 300 artists regularly gathers throughout Hartford and New Haven Counties to sketch from life, not for lessons or critiques, but to share in the experience of capturing the world around them.

The exhibit showcased beautifully detailed sketches of the Tuttle House, both inside and out, along with other beloved landmarks around Naugatuck. What made this collection especially meaningful was the time, care, and personal perspective each artist brought to the project.

The group visited the Naugatuck History Museum three times, including a February 2025 session where each artist selected a favorite spot inside the museum to sketch. Many artists also returned independently, contributing additional work that reflected their unique styles and connections to the space.

Whether you were a longtime resident, an art enthusiast, or someone simply looking for something different to enjoy, we hope this collection offered a meaningful and inspiring reminder of how art and community come together.

For those who were unable to visit in person, photographs of each sketch from the exhibit are included below to ensure the work remains accessible to all.
