The cluster of buildings by McKim, Mead & White attracted national attention. The Year Book of the Architectural League in New York reported on the Naugatuck projects in 1899, and in 1906 the magazine Architectural Record published a ten-page illustrated review of the whole ensemble, titled “An Architectural Oasis.”
