“From little acorns, mighty oaks do grow”
October 18, 2019, the Tuttle House grounds got a new resident! The Connecticut Tree Protective Association donated a beautiful white oak to the town to honor the 100th anniversary of the passage of Connecticut’s Arborist law. Evabeth Kloc worked closely with the association, the Historical Society & the town to choose a perfect spot on the Tuttle House lawn for tree.
As Ms. Kloc mentioned in her remarks, the grounds of the museum are a perfect place to celebrate this landmark law. In his lifetime Harris Whittemore planted nearly half a million trees in Naugatuck, Woodbury, & Southbury and also preserved redwood groves in California.
