D. Thurston's and Sons
D. Thurston's and Sons on Rubber Avenue - pictures from December 2007. "The main building had a roof collapse over the original ice house during the heavy snow in January 2011. Due to the damage from the collapse the building was torn down. I remember going with my dad in the 1960s and getting block and chipped ice at the wooden loading dock. The Thurston family served Naugatuck's ice, heating oil and propane needs for over 100 years. While the Thurston's no longer run the business it is still open and is one of Naugatuck's oldest operating companies." - Ken Hanks
